I have a NEW NAME!

So I've decided on a name change. The name "socksandjoggings" works just fine for what I'm doing. Sadly, I've grown to dislike it. I've been looking for a bit of a new start. I have worked on three large projects that all flopped. I've thought about starting completely anew and abandoning all my accounts as "socksandjoggings", but in the end I decided to keep them. I did make a different account but deleted it later. All the art I uploaded there I'll re-upload.

Anyway, the first of those three projects was an asymmetrical fantasy RTS on which I worked together with a friend. When it became clear that this project was too big for the both of us we decided on something smaller. The second project was a Rampage-inspired game, however my friend couldn't quite find the time to work on it since his own life was getting busy. The last project was a miniseries of Metroid-based fan-animations, as an imagining of what Samus Aran's early bounty hunting life would be like. The length of these animations was simply too much.

Other than those projects I've done some painting, got back into crosshatching, made some portraits and most recently I've been getting deeper into Blender, which now bore some fruit. Somewhat to my surprise I'm actually enjoying figuring out all the little technicalities that come with 3D-software. There's many things I'd like to make, this time I have to try my best to go about it sensibly.

Edit 19/10/'22: I've decided to move back to this account and change the name of this account instead, from "socksandjoggings" to "Zoukeau". This way I can keep all my work in one place. I don't have the impression many people read this post when I first put it out, but I still apologize for the confusion to those that did.

Edit 13/01/'23: Took out some of the more personal things in this post, didn't feel comfortable with them being on display like this. Honestly I'd rather delete the whole thing but I'll keep it up for the sake of clarity.

The last couple of days I've been doing quite a bit of thinking. I'm struggling a bit with deciding just how personal I want to get here, but I want to say at the least that my ambition to make a living out of just my art (illustration/animation) has taken a hit. Separate from that I do believe I've managed to improve my skills quite a bit over the recent years, and perhaps that's the most important part (though I do notice myself cutting corners still).

What this means is that I won't be trying to stick to a consistent upload schedule for the time being. It absolutely doesn't mean that I'm dropping art altogether, to be sure. There are several ideas that follow me around that are begging to be made, but for some of those I also think I'm not quite ready yet.

Finally I wanted to say that Newgrounds has been the most enjoyable platform to post illustrations on. It's possible I'm biased because I've actually done somewhat well on here, but it has just felt the most... alive? As far as I know it doesn't rely on an alghorithm, pieces that are put on the frontpage are put on there by an actual person and finding new artists is pretty easy.
